Teen SRP funds/OLIS Vouchers
12:14 PM EDT 10/6/09
Hi, All,

I want to take this opportunity to announce a new way of figuring Teen SRP funds for the OLIS vouchers. These vouchers are used to purchase materials for your summer reading program from Upstart, available to us because RI is a member of the national Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP). Instead of alloting $10.00 per library, the teen money is being determined using the same formula as the children's SRP funding. Each library that has reported Teen SRP program statistics for 2009 will receive a core amount ($8.00) plus .25 per participant.

For example, if your library had 57 teens signed up (not completed) for your 2009 SRP, here is how much you will receive on your voucher:

$8.00 (core funds) + $14.25 (57 participants x .25/participant) = $22.25

If your children's librarian attended the Summer Reading Program sharing session yesterday at the Warwick Public Library, she will have your library's voucher, a catalog, and the 2010 SRP manual from the CSLP. Each library has one voucher, with the total for the teen materials included with the children's total. Orders should be placed together.

As usual, prizes for the SRP can not be ordered using the voucher from OLIS (LSTA money can not be spent on prizes). Please check WebJunction as I will be posting a list of what can be purchased using your voucher. Prizes, and more materials than your vouchers can support, can be ordered using funds from your library's budget, a friends group, or a local sponsor. You will give Upstart your library's billing information when you place your order if you exceed your voucher total. The state of RI will be billed for the voucher amount, and your library will be billed for the rest of the order.

Please note: Orders can not be placed until I email the State of RI purchase order number out (probably by the first week in November).

I hope this is good news! Many of you will see an increase (in some instances a substantial increase) in your vouchers.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Thanks,

Cheryl
