YA advisory Board
7:18 PM EDT 10/21/09
Hello Library Friends. I am looking for advice as I put together a
"young adult advisory board and book discussion club" for ...yes, YA's in my public library.
I am hoping to create monthly meetings where YA's review and recommend their fave books,
vote for best book of 2009, as well as assist me with choosing books to purchase for the collection & recommend other
YA programs and materials. An ongoing club......

Has anyone else run a program like this?
Any shorter names/titles you can help me brainstorm for this board/club?

sugggestions and thoughts are appreciated

thanks!

Hi, Deb,

You could give each meeting have a theme, and let the kids just bring books they have read that tie in with it. They could also make recommendations of other books as well. This would make it more of a reading circle than a book discussion group, but it does open up for a more interest since they are not necessarily stuck with a certain book. Then as the group gets more comfortable, they can select titles to go with as a group, maybe even from suggestions everyone has provided.
